Mamelodi Sundowns Hold FAR Rabat to Secure Second CAF Champions League Title

Mamelodi Sundowns secured the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League for the second time after a 1-1 draw with FAR Rabat in the second leg of the final held in Morocco on Sunday night.

The South African club achieved a 2-1 aggregate win at the Moulay Abdellah Stadium, building on their 1-0 victory in Pretoria the previous week.

Mohamed Hrimat gave FAR Rabat an early chance from the penalty spot in the 40th minute, but Teboho Mokoena’s impressive strike in first‑half stoppage time restored Sundowns’ aggregate advantage and proved decisive.

Goalkeeper Ronwen Williams delivered a pivotal moment when he saved Hrimat’s second‑half penalty, denying the Moroccan side a route back into the tie.

The triumph marks Sundowns’ second Champions League title and crowns coach Miguel Cardoso after earlier final setbacks on the continent.

FAR Rabat entered the match needing to overturn a slim deficit and began with the urgency expected from a team supported by a passionate home crowd.

The Moroccan side dominated possession for extended periods in the first half and repeatedly sent balls into the Sundowns box, yet the visitors remained disciplined.

Khuliso Mudau, Keanu Cupido, Ndamane and Divine Lunga maintained their shape effectively, limiting the hosts to few clear chances in open play.
