Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has signed Executive Order No. 1 of 2026, which will regulate associations, groups and organisations that provide security and related services within the state.
The order was announced in a statement posted on Governor Makinde’s official page.
According to the statement, the executive order was introduced to ensure that security‑related groups operate under clear rules approved by the state government.
Makinde said the move is intended to promote peace, maintain public order and uphold the rule of law throughout Oyo State.
The governor also addressed the recent kidnapping in Oriire Local Government Area, noting that security agencies are working to secure the release of the abducted children and teachers.
“Security agencies are working round the clock to ensure the safe return of the children and teachers kidnapped in Oriire LGA,” the statement read.
