The District Head of Makarfi, Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi, has said that Governor Uba Sani’s reconstruction and modernization of the General Hospital in Makarfi has reversed decades of neglect and transformed healthcare delivery in the community.
He noted that the intervention has significantly improved access to quality medical services, restored confidence in public healthcare, and renewed hope among residents of Makarfi and surrounding communities.
Alhaji Adamu made the remarks while addressing journalists during a statewide media tour of projects executed by the Governor Uba Sani administration in Zone One of Kaduna State.

The media tour was led by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, and the Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Umma K. Ahmad, as part of efforts to showcase the impact of ongoing development projects and engage directly with beneficiary communities.
Speaking on behalf of the people of Makarfi, the District Head disclosed that the hospital, which was established in the early 1970s, had neither undergone any major reconstruction nor received modern medical equipment for over four decades until the coming of the present administration.
He described the transformation of the facility as a landmark intervention that has addressed longstanding healthcare challenges and improved the quality of life of residents.

“For many years, our people struggled with inadequate healthcare services and had to travel long distances to access quality medical treatment. Today, that reality has changed,” he said.
According to him, Governor Uba Sani fulfilled a promise made to the people of Makarfi by reconstructing and equipping the hospital with modern facilities.
“The reconstruction and equipping of this hospital have brought relief, restored confidence in public healthcare, and renewed hope for our people. We are grateful that the Governor has fulfilled his promise to the community,” Alhaji Adamu stated.

The traditional leader added that the upgraded hospital serves not only residents of Makarfi but also people from neighboring communities who rely on the facility for healthcare services.
For many residents, the impact of the project is already evident. A patient at the hospital, Malama Sadiya Rabiu, said the upgraded facility has reduced both the hardship and financial burden associated with seeking treatment outside the local government area.
“Today, we can access quality healthcare services close to home. This has brought great relief to families, and we are grateful to Governor Uba Sani for fulfilling his promise,” she said.
A resident of the community, Abdullahi Musa, noted that the project has strengthened public trust in government, describing the reconstructed hospital as evidence of the administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of ordinary citizens.
It will be recalled that Makarfi General Hospital is among the sixteen general hospitals currently undergoing reconstruction and modernization under Governor Uba Sani’s healthcare transformation programme.
The Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Umma K. Ahmad, explained that the project reflects Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure and expanding access to quality and affordable healthcare across Kaduna State.
She reiterated that the administration considers healthcare a fundamental right and has continued to invest heavily in the rehabilitation, upgrading, and equipping of health facilities, particularly in underserved communities.
