The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has sanctioned the suspension of Chief Mike Ozekhome’s Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) designation.

The decision was adopted at the LPPC’s 173rd General Meeting on Tuesday, in accordance with Paragraph 26(6) of the Guidelines for the Conferment of the Rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria and All Matters Pertaining to the Rank.

Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and LPPC Secretary Kabir Akanbi announced yesterday that the suspension will remain in effect until the final determination of the disciplinary proceedings, which are currently before the LPPC’s Disciplinary and Ethics Sub‑Committee and other related proceedings.

The suspension is intended to protect the integrity, dignity, and prestige of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria rank while due consideration is given to the matters under review.

Accordingly, Chief Mike Ozekhome is required to refrain from presenting himself, or otherwise portraying himself, as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria until the disciplinary proceedings reach a final determination, the statement read.

The LPPC reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professional ethics, integrity, and discipline within the legal profession, and to ensuring that the Senior Advocate of Nigeria rank continues to inspire public confidence and respect.
