London to host 2026 Ballon d’Or in October

The 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony will be held in London for the first time on 26 October, marking the 70th anniversary of the trophy’s first award to England’s Stanley Matthews in 1956, organisers announced on Thursday.

The Ballon d’Or is the most prestigious individual prize in football, a competition that has long been dominated by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Last year’s award was won by Paris Saint‑Germain winger Ousmane Dembélé, with the ceremony taking place in Paris under the auspices of Groupe L’Equipe, the owners of France Football magazine.

The specific London venue for the 2026 ceremony has not yet been disclosed.
