Linda Ejiofor: “Three years ago I thought my career was stagnant”

Nollywood actress Linda Ejiofor discussed a challenging period in her career, admitting that she once felt her progress had stalled before a significant turnaround that culminated in her recent double win at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

In an interview with Nolywire, conducted by her husband and actor Ibrahim Suleiman, Ejiofor explained how a moment of doubt led her to seek divine guidance.

“Three years ago, I thought my career was stagnant and not going anywhere, and I asked God for something, anything. And He gave me two beautiful stories,” she said.

She revealed that her husband was instrumental in encouraging her during that time, even when she struggled to believe in her own performances.

“I am so grateful to God, grateful to my husband because he stood by me through this. He told me that I did well in both movies. To be honest, I didn’t believe him,” she added.

Ejiofor’s breakthrough came at the 2026 AMVCA, where she made history by winning Best Lead Actress for The Serpent’s Gift and Best Supporting Actress for The Herd in the same ceremony, becoming one of the standout winners of the event.

Her double victory has been described as one of the most remarkable achievements of the night, marking a defining moment in her acting career.
