Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the regional police spokesperson, told IOL that investigators have not received new leads, but officers remain active in the search.

Omphile’s 52‑year‑old grandmother last saw her at 2 a.m.; the child was wearing a pink jersey and black tights.

“It is said that at around 2 a.m., the victim’s 52‑year‑old grandmother awoke to use the restroom and took her granddaughter, Omphile Sethole, with her before returning to bed. When the grandmother awoke again at around 6 a.m., the child was gone, and a window in the room was open,” Ledwaba added.

Family members and neighbours immediately began searching the neighbourhood, but the toddler was not located.

Authorities have warned the public against spreading misinformation on social media, emphasizing that Omphile has not been found.

Limpopo Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe expressed concern over false reports circulating on various platforms that claimed Omphile Sethole had been discovered dead.

“This information is incorrect, and the infant girl has not been located. The search for the missing toddler continues,” Hadebe said.

Anyone with information about Omphile Sethole’s whereabouts or the suspect is asked to contact Investigating Officer Sergeant Moshe Mashaba at 082 319 9448, Crime Stop at 08600 10111, visit the local police station, or use the MySAPS App.
