The Foxes were relegated from the Sky Bet Championship last season.

Leicester City, who will compete in League One next season, are already working toward an immediate return to the Championship.

The Nigeria international is no stranger to League One, having previously played in the division during his career.

Okonkwo played a key role in Wrexham’s automatic promotion from League One just over a year ago, keeping 19 clean sheets in 33 league appearances.

There are also doubts about Okonkwo’s future at Wrexham, as the club has been linked with Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson.

If Wrexham meets Patterson’s reported £8 million asking price, the Red Dragons are likely to consider him their first‑choice goalkeeper over Okonkwo.

The 24‑year‑old, who has less than a year left on his contract with Wrexham, has also been linked with Bristol City, Watford and Derby County.

The shot‑stopper made his debut for Nigeria’s Super Eagles against the Warriors of Zimbabwe last month.
