Former Chelsea striker Álvarez Morata has said that leaving Atlético Madrid was the biggest mistake of his career.
The Spanish striker, who later joined AC Milan and then Galatasaray, admitted he would gladly trade all the major trophies he has won for a single title with Atlético.

“My decision to leave Atlético Madrid was the biggest mistake of my career. I would trade all the titles I’ve won for just one with Atlético – just one. Atlético is a club I love. I was very happy there,” he told Mario Suarez.
Morata enjoyed a highly prolific final spell at Atlético Madrid (2022–2024), scoring 36 goals in 93 appearances.
He was especially lethal during the first half of the campaign, netting 18 goals in just 27 games across La Liga and the Champions League.
He became a focal point in Diego Simeone’s attack, forming a lethal partnership with Antoine Griezmann and famously scoring a memorable brace against Real Madrid.

He elevated his game in crucial fixtures, including a standout performance against rivals Real Madrid in September 2023, where he scored two decisive headers in a 3‑1 victory.
Simeone heavily relied on his aerial ability, vertical runs, and hold‑up play to stretch opposing defenses and create space for supporting forwards.
