Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso has denied reports that it has closed due to fears of a bandit attack.

On Tuesday evening, a statement signed by Olalekan Fadeyi on behalf of Registrar Mrs Olayinka Balogun was issued by the university’s management. The statement urged the public to dismiss the circulating rumors.

“This is to strongly debunk the rumour making the rounds that the Management of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has closed down the University for fear of invasion by bandits,” the statement read.

“This is to inform our students, their parents and guardians that there is no immediate reason for management of LAUTECH to close down the University, therefore the University is still in session,” it added.

“As a matter of fact, our students are currently writing their examinations and the exercise continues tomorrow,” the statement continued.

“Management regrets whatever inconvenience this unfounded rumour may have caused.”

The rumors may be linked to the attacks on several schools in Oriire Local Government Area by bandits last Friday, an area not far from the university town.
