Lagos Governor Hamzat Secures APC Nomination Unopposed in Agege

The incumbent Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, was declared the APC candidate for the 2027 Lagos governorship race after running unopposed in the Agege council area on Thursday.

During the APC governorship primary held at Agege Stadium, Hamzat secured victories in all 11 wards of the council.

He was the sole aspirant and was elected through affirmation votes by party members.

Returning Officer Debola Ladigbolu, who also serves as the Lagos APC Assistant Legal Adviser, reported that Hamzat received 14,053 votes.

Following the exercise, Dr. Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, thanked the constituency members for conducting a peaceful and orderly primary.

Obasa praised APC leaders and members in Agege for their high turnout at the election.

He added that politics in Agege has been well organized, fostering peaceful coexistence among residents.

“We will continue to strive higher through our collective responsibilities, and our council chairmen will embark on massive poverty alleviation programmes,” he said.
