Clearance operations are underway at the 1004 Housing Estate in Lagos as part of a broader effort to improve environmental sanitation, restore order, and enforce compliance with environmental regulations.
Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources Tokunbo Wahab said on Wednesday that the exercise, being carried out within the estate, aims to remove obstructions, eliminate environmental nuisances, and address activities that impede the free movement of pedestrians and vehicles.
“Clearance operations are currently ongoing at 1004 Housing Estate as part of sustained efforts to maintain environmental sanitation, restore order, and ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations. Operatives are actively clearing obstructions, removing environmental nuisances, and addressing activities that impede the free flow of pedestrians and vehicular traffic within the estate,” the statement read.
During the operation, enforcement operatives reportedly discovered and seized illicit drugs, cash, and other suspected dangerous items.
“The exercise is being conducted to enhance the cleanliness, safety, and overall aesthetic appeal of the area while promoting a healthier environment for residents and visitors,” the statement added.
Authorities said monitoring and enforcement activities will continue throughout the operation to ensure compliance and prevent a recurrence of environmental infractions.
