LAGOS — The Lagos State government announced yesterday that Iddo Bridge in the Ijora, Apapa Local Government Area will be closed for five days to allow the Federal Ministry of Works to install heavy steel beams as part of the bridge’s ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, urged motorists to be patient and cooperate with traffic‑management officials during the temporary closure.

Osiyemi said: “The operation is scheduled to take place on June 17, 2026, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and on June 21, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.”

“Consequently, the entire section of Iddo Bridge will be temporarily closed to vehicular movement during the periods stated above to ensure the safe installation of the steel beams on the bridge,” he added.

“The closure is part of the traffic‑management plans put in place to facilitate the launching of steel beams for the ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction of Iddo Bridge by the Federal Ministry of Works (Office of the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos).”
