The Lagos State Government sealed Dominion Pizza in Lekki after allegations that the establishment discharged untreated sewage into public drainage channels.
The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) conducted the enforcement action after a resident filed a complaint and environmental authorities carried out investigations.
Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources Tokunbo Wahab stated that investigations revealed wastewater from the restaurant’s septic system was being released into the surrounding environment because the septic tank had overflowed.
He noted that this caused environmental pollution, a foul odor, and presented potential health risks to nearby residents and the public.
In a Tuesday post on X, Wahab explained that the enforcement was part of the state’s continuous environmental compliance drive, intended to strengthen sanitation standards and enforce wastewater management regulations throughout Lagos.
He reiterated the government’s zero‑tolerance stance on environmental violations, warning that individuals or organisations found guilty of breaching sanitation laws would face appropriate sanctions, including possible prosecution.
The commissioner also urged residents, business operators and property owners to adopt proper wastewater management practices to protect public health and the environment.
He further encouraged residents to report environmental violations using the official channels of the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office.
