Lagos APC selects Sonayon‑James as Hamzat’s running mate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced Damilola Sonayon-James as the deputy governorship candidate for Lagos in the 2027 general elections.

Sonayon-James, a native of Badagry, will serve as the running mate to Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.

Princess Sonayon-James is a politician, sustainability specialist, and business leader known for her grassroots mobilisation and advocacy for women’s empowerment.

She currently holds the position of Deputy State Chairman of the APC in Lagos State.

Her political career began as the State Assistant Woman Leader, after which she was promoted to Deputy State Chairman. She has also worked as a Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture and Social Services in Badagry West Local Council Development Area.

Sonayon-James earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) and a degree in Business and Human Resources Management from the University of Hull in the United Kingdom.

Professionally, she has built a dynamic career in human resources, logistics, and sustainability, and she currently serves as CEO of DGS Chauffeurs & Logistics.
