The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Hamzat, has been declared the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary, defeating his rival Lanre Jim‑Kamal in an exercise that party officials described as both peaceful and transparent.

Hamzat received 657,917 of the 657,974 accredited votes, while Jim‑Kamal secured only a single vote, highlighting the deputy governor’s overwhelming support.

The results were announced by the Chairman of the Governorship Electoral Committee, Gen. Jon Temlong, at the APC Secretariat in Acme, Ogba.

Hamzat’s victory followed a series of endorsements from key power blocs within the Lagos APC, notably the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC). The primary was further influenced by the withdrawal of several aspirants before the exercise.

Among those who stepped down were Babajide Adeniran, known as Jandor, and Samuel Mawuyon Àjọṣe, also known as SMA Gold, both of whom withdrew in support of Hamzat, thereby consolidating backing for his candidacy.
