KWARTMA floods Kwara roads with 450 personnel ahead Eid, Durbar

The Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA) has assigned 450 officers to manage traffic across the state in preparation for the Eid‑Kabir festivities and the annual Ilorin Durbar festival.

Chief Executive Officer Abdullahi Suleiman Oba announced the move in a statement released in Ilorin.

The operation will run from 22 May to 30 May 2026, when increased vehicular and pedestrian activity is expected during the celebrations.

According to the statement, 350 officers will be positioned at key traffic points and congestion‑prone areas, while additional personnel will conduct patrol, rescue, monitoring and surveillance duties.

Coverage will include major livestock markets and strategic sites such as Kara Market, Oke‑Oyi, Mandate Market, Zango, Kara Ajase, Offa, Oko‑Olowo and Bode Saadu.

“We have strategically deployed our personnel to critical locations across the state to ensure seamless movement, effective traffic control and public safety throughout the celebrations,” Oba said.

KWARTMA also urged motorists and commercial drivers to refrain from excessive speeding, overloading and night journeys during the Eid‑Kabir celebrations.
