Kwara stakeholders petition APC national chairman over unauthorized primary result

—As party chairman faces vote of no confidence

By Johnbosco Agbakwuru

ABUJA—Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti Local Government Area, Kwara State, have issued a vote of no confidence in local chairman Mr. James Ajibola. They allege that he released Federal House of Representatives primary results without authorization, an act the party elders say directly challenges national authority and established procedures.

A broad coalition of APC elders and local stakeholders has formally petitioned the party’s national leadership, demanding urgent disciplinary action against Mr. Ajibola and members of his executive team for allegedly publishing primary results in defiance of explicit instructions from the national body.

The petition, addressed to the APC national chairman and signed by Alhaji Olaiya Mohammed Bello and Chief JB Ayeni on behalf of the Ekiti Elders and Stakeholders Forum, Ekiti Local Government Area, states: “Our party’s rules are not suggestions; they are the backbone of our unity.”

“When local leaders act as if they are above the party, they replace democratic process with personal ambition. We will not allow that.”

The petitioners accuse Ajibola and his associates of willfully breaching party discipline by releasing election outcomes before the official announcement by federally mandated organs.

They argue that the premature revelation has sown confusion among party faithful, fractured local alliances, and risked tarnishing the APC’s image across the state.

The elders warn that the incident threatens internal democracy and call for tough sanctions. “This is not merely a procedural lapse — it is an assault on the integrity of the APC. Those responsible must be made to answer,” they say. “Suspension or expulsion should be on the table where guilt is proven.”

According to the petitioners, the unauthorized disclosure undermined the national leadership’s authority and sets a dangerous precedent if left unchecked.

“Allowing rogue announcements to stand would tell every local organ that party rules are negotiable,” the petition argues. “That would be the beginning of our undoing.”

The Ekiti group urges the National Working Committee to launch a full inquiry and to mete out sanctions commensurate with any violations discovered.

They insist that decisive action is necessary both to deter future misconduct and to reassure aggrieved members that due process will prevail.
