Kwara: PDP guber aspirant suspended over alleged anti-party activities

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has suspended governorship aspirant Alhaji Ladi Hassan over accusations of anti‑party conduct and gross misconduct.

The suspension was announced in a letter from the Magaji Ngeri Ward Executive Committee in Ilorin West Local Government Area on June 2, 2026.

According to the letter, Hassan had been notified of the allegations on May 30, 2026, and was ordered to appear before a seven‑member committee established by the ward within 48 hours. He did not comply, which the committee said amounted to an admission of the charges.

The committee cited Sections 57 and 59(1) of the PDP Constitution, which allow disciplinary action against members found guilty of offences. It stated that “your failure to comply constitutes an admission of guilt of anti‑party activities, acts of indiscipline, and gross misconduct, all of which contravene the principles and code of conduct of the Party.”

As a result, Hassan has been suspended from all party activities and functions for one month, effective from the date of the letter. The suspension also bars him from participating in meetings, programmes and other party events at the ward, local government, state and national levels during this period.
