Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Kwara State Governorship Primaries Committee, confirmed that the upcoming primary will be conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner.

In a statement, Obanikoro said that voting materials would be distributed before Friday’s Jumat prayers, after which voting would begin simultaneously across all 16 local governments in the state.

The committee will adhere strictly to the directives issued by the APC national headquarters and the party’s established guidelines. Obanikoro also noted that the committee had convened a strategic meeting with all governorship aspirants at the APC State Secretariat in Ilorin, where the electoral process was explained in detail.

During the meeting, aspirants had the chance to raise concerns about ensuring an inclusive and transparent process. While the committee encouraged consensus among candidates, it remains prepared to conduct a credible election if consensus is not reached.

Obanikoro emphasized that the committee is the sole body authorized by the party and relevant laws to conduct, conclude, and report on the primary. He announced that Local Government Election Officers, appointed by the committee, will be deployed to each of the 16 local government areas to receive election materials and oversee the voting process.

The chairman reiterated the committee’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and the overall success of the party, urging all stakeholders to act peacefully and in a spirit of unity.
