IBADAN — Mrs. Rachael Folawe Alamu, the principal of Community High School in Esiele, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, appeared in a viral video from her captivity on Monday. In the clip, she denied claims that her abductors were demanding a N1 billion ransom, weapons, or the implementation of Sharia law in Nigeria.
Alamu said she chose to speak out after 24 days in captivity, when she was shown media reports alleging that the kidnappers were seeking money and the introduction of Sharia law. She insisted those allegations were false.
According to the principal, the kidnappers have not demanded any ransom or religious conditions, contrary to what some sections of the media have reported. Instead, she said the only demand made by the abductors was the release of certain individuals who are currently in custody.
Alamu urged Nigerians and authorities not to politicise the situation and called for efforts to focus on securing the release of all victims. She also asked the public to help circulate her message, emphasizing that no other demands had been made beyond the release of the specified persons.
Authorities have not yet issued an official response to the claims presented in the video.
