Hisbah operatives in Kebbi State arrested a man who was reportedly hiding inside a “Ghana‑Must‑Go” bag at the home of a married woman in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi.

The arrest was confirmed by Sirajo Kamba, Director of Sharia at the board, in a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday.

Kamba said residents notified Hisbah at about 12:15 a.m. on Monday after observing suspicious activity at the woman’s house. They suspected an illicit relationship and reported the matter to authorities.

Hisbah officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving the report, but the woman initially denied that anyone was inside. Kamba added that she later allowed the officers to enter, leading to a search that uncovered the suspect concealed in a “Ghana‑Must‑Go” bag.

Further investigation suggested an alleged romantic relationship between the man and the married woman. Both suspects reportedly admitted to the allegation during interrogation and are expected to be arraigned in court under Islamic law, according to the board.

The Hisbah official said the case remains under investigation.
