Katsina State expands automatic job placement for first‑class graduates

Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda announced that automatic employment will now be offered to all state indigenes who graduate with first‑class degrees from higher institutions across Nigeria.

The announcement was made during the grand finale and award presentation of the first Katsina State Students’ Week, which took place at Bayero University Kano.

Radda said the policy aims to attract highly talented graduates into the state civil service and improve government performance.

“When I assumed office, I introduced automatic employment for students who graduated with first‑class degrees. We implemented this policy at Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University and other institutions located in Katsina State,” he said.

“Today, I am pleased to expand the offer to all Katsina State students across the country who graduate with first‑class degrees from this year onward.”

The governor explained that bringing more top‑performing graduates into public service would help build a stronger workforce in the coming years.

“This decision is deliberate. If we recruit a significant number of first‑class graduates into the civil service, Katsina State will have one of the most efficient and productive civil services in the country within the next 10 to 15 years,” he said.

Radda also highlighted his administration’s efforts to support education, including clearing scholarship debts and increasing bursary payments to encourage students to continue their studies.

According to him, the government has reduced the number of out‑of‑school children, recruited more than 10,000 teachers, and built new schools and renovated educational facilities across the state.

He urged students to maintain academic excellence and contribute to the development of Katsina State.

Vice‑Chancellor of Bayero University Kano, Prof. Haruna Musa‑Muhammad, described Radda as a student‑friendly governor.

He praised the improvement of the state scholarship programme and expressed the university’s willingness to work with the Katsina State government to promote educational development.
