Jamila Abd‑Mani, the sole female candidate in Katsina State, emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary for the Bindawa/Mani Federal Constituency.
The result was announced by Shaif’u Audu‑Duwan, chairman of the constituency’s electoral committee, following the Saturday vote in Mani Local Government Area.
After compiling results from 22 wards, he reported that Abd‑Mani received 24,989 votes, while her rival Ahmed Saleh garnered 1,256.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) noted that the APC in Katsina generally follows a consensus strategy but permits primaries when required.
Audu‑Duwan explained, “The primary for Bindawa/Mani was held because consensus could not be reached, as two aspirants sought the ticket.”
He added, “Thus, Abd‑Mani has been declared the APC candidate for the constituency. This demonstrates the party’s unity, and we will strive for its success.”
Abd‑Mani thanked the constituents for the opportunity to run.
She praised Governor Dikko Radda and the state APC leadership for permitting her participation in the primary.
Abd‑Mani urged constituents, particularly women, to support her in the 2027 general elections so she can represent their interests in the National Assembly.
She pledged, “By the grace of Almighty Allah, if elected to the House of Representatives, I will use my experience to serve my constituency effectively.”
NAN also reported that Usman Banye was reaffirmed as the APC consensus candidate for the Charanchi/Rimi/Batagarawa Constituency.
Likewise, Salisu Majigiri, the incumbent representative for Mashi/Dutsi, was reaffirmed as the party’s candidate for that seat.
