Katsina APC Primaries: Speaker Daura, Dandutse, Yar’adua clinch Senate tickets

The Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Nasir Yahya Daura, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for Katsina North Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.

Daura won the party’s senatorial primary after polling 78,394 votes to defeat his closest rival, Ahmed Kabir, who scored 2,274 votes.

The Katsina North Senatorial District, also known as the Daura Zone, comprises 12 local government areas including Daura, Baure, Bindawa, Dutsi, Ingawa, Kankia, Kusada, Mai’Adua, Mani, Mashi, Sandamu and Zango.

The result was announced on Monday at Daura Motel by Dr. Yakubu Maccido, the APC representative from the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, who declared Daura the winner.

He said: “Having scored the highest number of votes, I hereby declare Hon. Nasiru Yahya as the winner of the primary election for Katsina North Senatorial District.”

Daura, in his reaction, thanked delegates and party leaders for their support and pledged effective representation if elected in 2027. He also called for unity among party members ahead of the general elections.

Meanwhile, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda also supervised the affirmation of two serving senators for the APC senatorial tickets in Katsina State.

At the Isma’ila Isa Funtua Township Stadium, stakeholders unanimously endorsed Senator Muntari Muhammad Dandutse as the APC candidate for Katsina South Senatorial District.

Similarly, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua was affirmed as the APC candidate for Katsina Central Senatorial District at the Katsina Township Stadium.

The APC Electoral Committee chairman, Dr. Yakubu Maccido Ahmed, said the affirmations followed unanimous agreements among stakeholders and aspirants in the affected zones.

He said the process reflected unity, internal cohesion, and strategic alignment within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
