Kano State is set to host the launch of the Northern Corridor Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Electric Vehicle (EV) Programme on Thursday, May 14, according to a statement from the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles (Pi‑CNG & EV).

The programme, organised by Pi‑CNG & EV, seeks to promote cleaner and more affordable transportation options throughout Northern Nigeria.

Stakeholders from government, the private sector, and the transport industry will gather to accelerate the expansion of CNG and EV infrastructure and encourage wider adoption in the region.

Launch activities will include the unveiling and commissioning of CNG and EV assets, as well as demonstrations of clean mobility solutions already being deployed across the country.

Organisers say the programme aligns with the federal government’s goal of expanding access to alternative‑fuel transportation and reducing reliance on conventional fuels.

“The launch is also expected to provide a platform for stakeholder engagement and collaboration on the development of Nigeria’s clean mobility ecosystem,” the statement added.
