The Kano State Security Council has announced a major operation against thuggery and violent gangs following the recent attack on the ALGON chairperson, Hajiya Sa’adatu Salisu Yusha’u Soja.

The decision was reached during a security meeting attended by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, and heads of security agencies.

Officials agreed on a joint strategy to tackle criminal groups causing unrest in different parts of Kano State.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, CP Bakori warned that security agencies would no longer tolerate violent activities in the state.

He said, “No thug will be given free hands and space to cause havoc in Kano State.”

The police commissioner also said security operations would be strengthened in areas known for violence, with more patrols, surveillance, and intelligence-led raids aimed at dismantling criminal gangs.

Security officials said Governor Yusuf also reiterated his administration’s commitment to peace and stability, promising continued support for security agencies in the fight against crime.

In recent weeks, many Kano residents have raised concerns over rising thuggery, saying the violence has disrupted business activities and created fear among traders and commuters.
