The 2023 Deputy Governorship Candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Yusuf Bello Danbatta, has left the PDP and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Danbatta announced his defection in a statement he signed and presented to journalists, explaining that the decision followed extensive consultations and a desire to contribute more effectively to the development of Kano State and Nigeria.
He said the move was the result of careful consideration and broad discussions with political leaders, colleagues, supporters, and other stakeholders.
According to Danbatta, the APC provides a platform better suited to advancing the interests of the people and supporting initiatives that improve governance and development.
The former deputy governorship candidate noted that his decision was largely influenced by the leadership style and developmental agenda of the Kano State Government under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
He described the Kano First Agenda as a transformative blueprint that has shown a strong commitment to good governance, human‑capital development, infrastructure renewal, and overall progress in the state.
Danbatta reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to public service and pledged to continue working for the unity and progress of the people, regardless of political affiliation.
He urged his supporters and associates to join him in efforts aimed at the continued growth, stability, and development of Kano State.
