The bye‑election for the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency in Kano State was largely peaceful, with security forces and electoral officials closely overseeing polling units.
Police officers, INEC staff, and other security agencies were stationed throughout the constituency to maintain order and ensure adherence to electoral rules.
Kano State Police Commissioner Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner Abdu Zango, and members of the Inter‑Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) visited polling units in Dawakin Kudu and Warawa Local Government Areas to evaluate the proceedings.
During the monitoring exercise, Bakori explained that security personnel had been strategically positioned to ensure a safe and orderly election.
“Our personnel have been strategically deployed across the constituency to ensure adequate security and maintain law and order throughout the electoral process,” he said.
He expressed satisfaction with voter conduct and urged continued peaceful participation.
“We are satisfied with the level of compliance observed so far and urge residents to continue conducting themselves peacefully as the process continues,” he added.
Abdu Zango, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, also praised the peaceful atmosphere, noting that the election had proceeded without disruption.
“The police and all other security agencies have honoured their commitment to provide safety and security. The area is calm and peaceful, and there has been no problem whatsoever,” he said.
Zango added that the voting process was progressing smoothly, with electoral materials operating effectively.
“Our BVAS machines are working very well, polling units opened at 8:30 a.m., and there is a significant turnout of voters. We are very happy with the development,” he stated.
The bye‑election is being held to fill a vacant seat in the House of Representatives after the death of the former lawmaker for the constituency.
