England captain Harry Kane believes this is the country’s best chance to win the World Cup.

Kane is coming off a staggering 2025-26 season with Bayern Munich, where he netted over 60 goals across all competitions.

Combining his current peak fitness with a squad featuring talents like Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka, the skipper, in a chat with ITV, feels fully confident that they can end England’s 60-year trophy drought.

“This is my third tournament now, the shape I’m in and also coming off the season I’ve had, It’s probably the best opportunity I’ll have maybe in my whole career to win the World Cup,” he told ITV Sport.

“We haven’t won in an England shirt for 60 years, we’ve been extremely close and knocking on that door. But now it’s time to step over that line.

“This tournament always could be your last, you never know in football. I want to play for a long time, I feel as good as I’ve ever felt – I feel in my prime.

“But you never know what’s around the corner with injuries.”

No European player has scored more knockout goals in the World Cup and Euros than Kane, but is there a record he is looking to break at this summer’s tournament?
