After the former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, was sentenced to 75 years in prison, Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered his arrest.
On Wednesday, Omotosho sentenced Mamman on all twelve counts of money laundering and conspiracy concerning funds earmarked for the Zungeru and Mambilla hydroelectric power projects, charges brought by the EFCC.
He directed that the sentences be served consecutively.
Although Mamman was absent from the courtroom, Justice Omotosho stipulated that the imprisonment would commence on the day he is taken into custody.
He instructed all security agencies, Interpol included, to apprehend the convict wherever he may be located.
Justice Omotosho also mandated that any money recovered from Mamman, together with his assets, be forfeited to the federal government.
He was further ordered to pay the shortfall remaining from the N22 billion allocated to the Mabilla and Zungeru hydroelectric power projects.
