The Jigawa State government has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains dedicated to guiding Nigeria toward growth, economic development, and higher living standards through focused social intervention programmes.

State Commissioner for Special Duties and Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Auwal Dalladi Sankara, made the comment while briefing journalists on the rollout of the Renewed Hope non‑conditional social security grant in the state.

According to the commissioner, 154,412 vulnerable households have been registered as beneficiaries of the programme in Jigawa. He noted that the first phase of the grant distribution began in January, and the second phase is now in progress.

Sankara explained that 126,636 registered households have already received their payment cards across the 27 local government areas, and efforts are underway to issue cards to the remaining 27,776 beneficiaries.

He added that President Tinubu recently increased the grant from N10,000 to N25,000 per payment cycle, with each beneficiary entitled to three cycles, totaling N75,000.

According to him, the upward review is intended to strengthen household welfare, improve nutrition, and support family incomes, especially for low‑income earners.

"The grant may appear modest, but it can make a significant difference in the lives of ordinary Nigerians by supporting petty traders, food vendors and other small businesses that drive local economic activities," he said.

Sankara also attributed the smooth implementation of the programme in Jigawa to the support of Governor Umar Namadi, whom he described as committed to initiatives that improve residents’ welfare.

He added that the Renewed Hope Social Security Grant complements Governor Namadi’s 12‑point development agenda and reflects the shared commitment of both the federal and state governments to reducing poverty and stimulating grassroots economic growth.

The commissioner expressed confidence that the collaboration between President Tinubu and the Jigawa State Government will continue to promote sustainable development and create better opportunities for citizens across the state.
