Request to Access N84bn FG-backed Facility
Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, announced that the assembly has approved Governor Umar Namadi’s request to tap an N84 billion federal‑government financing facility for statewide infrastructure development.
Dangyatin explained that the facility forms part of a federal intervention programme that allocates N7 billion per month to each of the 36 states for a twelve‑month cycle.
He made the announcement on Tuesday during a plenary session, after reading the governor’s letter to legislators, and noted that the total allocation for each state totals N84 billion to fund infrastructure and other development projects.
He added that participating states will access the facility via their selected commercial banks, while the federal government will be responsible for the monthly repayments.
The funding is intended to support critical projects in Jigawa State, such as road construction, health care, water supply, education, agriculture and rural electrification.
It is also expected to bolster the state government’s efforts to improve public services and raise residents’ living standards through sustainable infrastructure.
According to the speaker, the assembly has approved the governor’s request to initiate the process of accessing the funds.
