The Badminton Association of Japan donated training equipment to the Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN) under Japan’s Sport for Tomorrow initiative.
The National Sports Commission (NSC) disclosed this on their X handle on Friday.
The presentation, held at the Package B Indoor Sports Hall of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, brought together the Chairman of the NSC Shehu Dikko , Ambassador of Japan to Nigeria H.E. Suzuki Hideo, NSC Director General Hon. Bukola Olopade, Nigeria Olympic Committee President Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel.
Also present were BFN President Francis Orbih, National Institute for Sports Director General Philip Shaibu, and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development Hon. Adeboye Adeyinka Anthony.

The donated items, including 55 badminton rackets, 44 shuttlecocks, six racket covers and three racket bags, will support the development of both elite and grassroots badminton across the country.
The initiative followed collaboration between BFN and their of Japanese counterparts through their representatives on the Badminton World Federation Council, with the Japanese Government supporting the transportation of the equipment.
Speaking at the ceremony, NSC Chairman Dikko commended the Badminton Federation of Nigeria for attracting strategic international partnerships that will improve training standards and strengthen the development pathway for Nigerian athletes.
He also appreciated the Government and people of Japan for their continued support of sports development in Nigeria.
