Amid the fake agency saga involving Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the president, human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has asked how a ‘ghost agency’ operated an account with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and allocated an office space at the Federal Secretariat.
Effiong made this query on Saturday when he appeared as a guest in an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Perspective’.
He was speaking on the matter involving Gbajabiamila, and ‘the Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC’, Adeniyi Adeyemi.
Recall that Adeyemi alleged that Gbajabiamila received N400 million through a proxy and demanded an additional N200 million to secure his appointment.
The Presidency has, however, debunked the allegation, saying Gbajabiamila cannot write letters or give appointments.
Airing his own opinion, Effiong said “It’s disrespectful and Baffling that the government claimed to have a ‘ghost’ agency
“It is nonsensical, ridiculous, and preposterous to tell Nigerians that an alleged “ghost” agency was allocated office space at the Federal Secretariat by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
“Even more baffling is the claim that the same agency was able to open and operate an account with the Central Bank of Nigeria.
“These are not trivial processes, they require official approvals and oversight.”
