The Israeli military has confirmed the death of one of its soldiers during ongoing combat operations in southern Lebanon.
In a statement released on Monday, the military identified the fallen soldier as Staff Sergeant Adam Tzarfati, 20, who was killed while participating in operations in southern Lebanon.
Military officials disclosed that the soldier died during an attack reportedly carried out by Hezbollah fighters, marking another casualty in the renewed conflict between Israeli forces and the Iran‑backed militant group.
According to security sources, the attack involved the use of an armed drone targeting Israeli troops operating in the area.
The latest fatality brings the number of Israelis killed since hostilities resumed in early March to 26. The casualties include 25 military personnel and one civilian contractor.
The conflict reignited after Hezbollah resumed attacks along the northern front following military strikes launched against Iran earlier in the year, drawing the region deeper into a broader security crisis.
In recent weeks, Israeli forces have expanded ground operations inside southern Lebanon, saying the objective is to weaken Hezbollah’s military infrastructure and strengthen security positions near the border.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly vowed to continue military operations until threats posed by Hezbollah are neutralised, while Lebanese authorities and international observers have expressed concerns over the growing humanitarian and security implications of the conflict.
