‘Israel, Iran must immediately stop shooting’ – Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, according to a White House official who briefed AFP. The conversation followed the first exchange of fire between Israel and Iran since an April ceasefire had been announced.

The call came as reports circulated that the relationship between the U.S. president and the Israeli leader had become increasingly strained. In a separate phone conversation, Trump had referred to Netanyahu as “crazy.”

Iran launched missiles at Israel overnight, prompting Israel to strike military targets in the Islamic Republic. The incident raised concerns that a broader conflict could erupt.

Earlier on Monday, Trump posted on social media: “Israel and Iran must immediately stop ‘shooting.’”

The White House confirmed that Trump and Netanyahu had spoken on Monday but did not provide additional details.
