Islamic scholar Abdulkadir Isawa wins PDP senatorial primary for Bauchi North

Prominent Islamic scholar Dr Abdulkadir Adam Isawa has emerged as the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial primary election for Bauchi North senatorial district.

The primary election was conducted in Azare under the supervision of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and party stakeholders.

Delegates from the seven local government areas of the district participated in the direct voting exercise, in which two aspirants contested for the party’s ticket. The contenders were Dr Abdulkadir Adam Isawa and Alhaji Maula Adamu.

At the end of the exercise, Dr Isawa secured 137 votes to win the PDP ticket, while his opponent, Alhaji Maula Adamu, failed to secure any vote.

Speaking after the announcement of the result, Dr Isawa thanked PDP members for the confidence reposed in him.

He called on party supporters to remain united and work collectively towards the success of the PDP in the forthcoming election.

The cleric also commended INEC officials and security personnel for ensuring a peaceful and transparent electoral process.

Dr Isawa further pledged to provide quality leadership and promote the development of Bauchi North if elected.
