Ireti Kingibe Announces Her 2027 ADC Candidacy for the FCT Senate Seat

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has named Senator Ireti Heebah Kingibe as its flag bearer for the Federal Capital Territory senatorial race in the 2027 general elections.

In the party primary, Kingibe won decisively, receiving 17,535 votes. Her only opponent, Mubarak Tijjani, secured 806 votes.

At the ADC secretariat in Abuja, chairman and returning officer for the senatorial and House of Representatives primaries, Abubakar Adamu, announced the results. “Having scored the highest number of votes of 17,535, and by the powers conferred on me as the returning officer for the Senate and House of Representatives primary elections, Senator Ireti Heebah Kingibe is hereby declared winner of the election,” he said.

The primary also selected candidates for the two House of Representatives seats in the FCT.

In the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency, Bala Iyah won with 4,937 votes, defeating Yahaya Fatima Goya, who received 2,015 votes. Ma’aji Johnson Bello obtained 1,546 votes, while Ismaila Ishak Ozigi received 105 votes.

For the Abaji/Gwagwalada/Kwali/Kuje Federal Constituency, Alhassan Salihu secured the ticket with 9,016 votes, beating Khalid A. Haruna, who garnered 2,955 votes.

Observers from the Independent National Electoral Commission monitored the primaries.

After his victory, Bala Iyah expressed confidence in the ADC’s prospects for the 2027 elections, describing himself as a grassroots politician with deep knowledge of the constituency and strong support from the people.
