The Iranian national football team has been informed that it must enter and depart U.S. territory on the same day as its matches in the United States, the country’s ambassador to Mexico said on Saturday.

Because of the ongoing U.S.–Israeli conflict with Tehran, the team is now based in Mexico instead of its originally planned location in Tucson, Arizona.

“We can enter in the morning and we must leave the same day,” Iran’s envoy Abolfazl Pasandideh told reporters, citing visa restrictions.

The Iranian squad has three group‑stage matches in the United States, in Los Angeles and Seattle.
