Insecurity: Tinubu should resign for failing to protect Nigerians – Hakeem Baba-Ahmed

A senior member of the Peoples Redemption Party, Hakeem Baba‑Ahmed, called on President Bola Tinubu to resign before the 2027 general elections, citing the country’s deteriorating security situation.

Baba‑Ahmed, who previously served as an aide to Tinubu, said the president has failed to safeguard the lives and property of Nigerians.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show, the former aide urged voters to reject Tinubu in the upcoming election.

He stated, “It’s clear Tinubu has no handle on the escalating menace. Everything that needed to be said by the media, the National Assembly, and civil societies has already been said, yet Tinubu and his supporters treat this as a problem we can live with.”

“They signaled this through their body language everywhere they can, and children are being stolen; every part of Nigeria is now vulnerable.”

“In a civilized society, Tinubu’s record on insecurity should have cost him his seat a long time ago. It’s not too late to say that President Tinubu should resign. If you look at what he’s doing between now and the election, we don’t even need to wait; we will reject him.”

The former aide emphasized that his call for resignation is neither confrontational nor partisan.

“Do we need to wait until more children and the country are overrun by criminality? The position that Tinubu should resign is not wrong, nor is it partisan or confrontational.”

“In a democratic setting, the President has two basic duties: to protect the citizens and to safeguard the nation’s assets. Tinubu has failed to protect anyone. As I said, every part of Nigeria is now vulnerable. Children and toddlers in schools are being stolen. What do you say to a president who has failed?”

“Sir, you cannot run this country. Please step down. It’s not a party issue, it’s not confrontational; it is the right thing to do,” he added.
