All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Wisdom Okoye said that Nigeria, like the United States, is struggling to tackle insecurity.
Okoye made the comments on Thursday during a press briefing in Abuja, in response to the recent rise in insecurity across the country.
Daily Post reports that students and teachers who were kidnapped in Oyo State remain in captivity almost a month after the incident.
Other abductions and security incidents have also been reported in Kogi, Benue, Borno and Abuja.
Okoye, president of the Tinubu Support Group, noted that while the Nigerian government has pledged to end insecurity, no country in the world is free of crime.
He urged governors and local government chairmen nationwide to intensify their support for President Bola Tinubu and his security chiefs in the fight against insecurity.
“There is no country in the world that is not facing challenges, even in America,” Okoye said. “No country has ever completely stopped crime. Our president is a builder; he will tackle insecurity.”
“The truth is a president cannot do it alone,” he added. “We have governors, local government chairmen, coordinators and counselors.”
