Insecurity: Muslim Youths Urge Makinde to Work With Security Forces and Local Communities

The National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations, NACOMYO, Oyo State chapter, has called on the Oyo State Government, led by Engineer Seyi Makinde, to work more closely with security agencies and local communities to prevent a repeat of Friday’s incident in the state.

NACOMYO made this statement in a declaration signed by its State Coordinator, Alhaji Dawood Afolabi.

The declaration was provided to DAILY POST on Monday evening.

According to DAILY POST, about 39 students and seven teachers were kidnapped in several communities within Oriire Local Government Area.

The report also noted that two people, a teacher and a motorcyclist, were killed during the attack.

NACOMYO expressed deep sorrow over the incident.

Afolabi, speaking on behalf of NACOMYO, praised the security agencies for launching rescue operations.

He urged the state government to collaborate with security agencies and local communities to prevent a recurrence.

Afolabi also called on residents to remain vigilant.

He advised citizens to stand against all forms of criminality in the state.

“The National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO), Oyo State Chapter, expresses deep sorrow and unequivocal condemnation of the recent abduction of pupils, students, and school staff in parts of Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.”

“We commend the efforts of the Oyo State Police Command, the Inspector General of Police, and other security agencies for initiating rescue operations. We strongly urge them to intensify their efforts and ensure that all victims are rescued unharmed and reunited with their loved ones without delay.”

“We sympathise with the Oyo State Government and also call on the government to collaborate closely with security agencies and local communities to strengthen security measures around schools, particularly in rural and vulnerable areas, to prevent any recurrence of such tragic incidents.”
