Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State announced that additional Nigerian Army personnel will soon be deployed to the state to bolster efforts against insecurity.
The statement was made in Awka on Friday during the third‑anniversary celebration of the Eighth Anambra House of Assembly.
Soludo explained that a delegation of the Nigerian Army had visited the state to evaluate plans for establishing new barracks that would support the fight against criminality.
He said the state is already winning the battle against crime, noting that peace has returned to communities across Anambra with the backing of President Bola Tinubu.
The governor highlighted the Tinubu administration’s extensive work to curb insecurity nationwide.
He praised the lawmakers for enacting legislation that has enabled the executive to deliver democratic dividends to the people of the state.
Soludo also honored those who laid the groundwork for the country’s current democratic governance, affirming that democracy remains the best system for the overall benefit of the people.
Earlier in his address, Speaker Dr Somtochukwu Udeze said lawmakers would continue to pass laws and resolutions that positively affect citizens’ lives.
Udeze stressed that, regardless of differing political affiliations among Assembly members, the state’s progress and development remain paramount.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that a thanksgiving mass was also held to mark the third anniversary of the Eighth Assembly.
Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation Dr Law Mefor commended the healthy relationship between the legislative and executive branches, saying it has facilitated good governance.
Mefor praised the Speaker’s “specialised style” of leadership, which has fostered a harmonious relationship with members of other political parties.
House Committee Chairman on Information Mr Ejiofor Egwuatu described the quality of the laws passed by lawmakers as evidence of the maturity of Anambra politicians.
Egwuatu urged lawmakers to prioritize citizens in all proceedings and to handle opposing issues diplomatically whenever they arise.
