INEC Confirms Bye‑Election Winners and Issues Certificates of Return

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has awarded Certificates of Return to the candidates who won the bye‑elections held on 20 June 2026 in Rivers, Enugu, Nasarawa, Ondo and Kano States.

The commission released the information in an official statement.

INEC said the certificates were handed over on behalf of the commission’s chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, by the Supervising National Commissioner for Rivers State, Mrs. May Agbamuche‑Mbu.

During the ceremony, Agbamuche‑Mbu congratulated the successful candidates and urged them to focus on the interests of the people they will represent.

“The most important responsibility before you is to represent your constituents well,” she said.

She also reminded the winners of the expectations placed on them by voters and encouraged them to serve with diligence and commitment.

INEC added that Certificates of Return will also be presented to winners of other recently concluded elections, including the Zuru State Constituency election in Kebbi State and the governorship election in Ekiti State.

The presentation of the certificates followed the conclusion of the bye‑elections held on 20 June 2026.
