INEC awards Certificates of Return to June 20 bye‑election winners

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has handed Certificates of Return to the winners of the bye‑elections conducted on June 20, 2026, in Rivers, Enugu, Nasarawa, Ondo and Kano states.

The announcement was made on the commission’s official X account on Tuesday.

The certificates were issued in the name of INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan by May Agbamuche‑Mbu, the Supervising National Commissioner for Rivers State.

During her remarks, Agbamuche‑Mbu congratulated the winners and urged them to justify the confidence placed in them by their constituents through effective representation and service delivery.

She added that the primary responsibility of elected officials is to serve the people diligently and ensure their interests are well represented.

INEC also stated that Certificates of Return will be issued to the winners of the Kebbi State House of Assembly Zuru Constituency election and the Ekiti State governorship election.

National Commissioners representing the respective constituencies presented the certificates to the elected candidates, formally affirming them as duly returned winners of their elections.
