Kelechi Iheanacho is set to sign a new two-year contract with Scottish Premiership champions Celtic, Completesports.com reports.

Iheanacho enjoyed an impressive debut campaign at Celtic after joining the Scottish champions on a free transfer.

The Nigeria international signed a one-year deal with the Hoops, with the club retaining the option to extend his stay by a further 12 months.

The 29-year-old scored crucial goals against Kilmarnock, Dundee, Hibernian and Motherwell, despite seeing his campaign disrupted by injuries.

Despite interest from clubs in Qatar and Turkey, reports suggest Iheanacho is poised to commit his future to Celtic.

O’Neill On Iheanacho

Celtic manager Martin O’Neill recently confirmed that the club are pursuing a deal to re-sign the striker.

“I’d like to do something with him, (Iheanacho)” O’Neill was quoted by Celtic Way.

“If we can do something relatively quickly, at least he then gets started in pre-season, which is really important for him. It’s something he didn’t have last year.”
