Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho helped Celtic secure the Scottish Premiership title with a 3‑1 win over Hearts at Celtic Park yesterday.

The Hoops hosted title rivals Hearts for the season’s final match, a winner‑take‑all decider for the Premiership crown.

Celtic entered the game one point behind the visitors and needed a victory. Their title hopes were dented when Lawrence Shankland opened the scoring for Hearts in the 43rd minute.

Arne Engels equalised from the penalty spot just before half‑time, restoring balance to the contest.

Although Iheanacho did not start, he was brought on at the beginning of the second half. The Nigerian, who has mainly been used as an impact substitute by manager Martin O’Neill, was expected to deliver a game‑changing performance.

Celtic dominated most of the second half but struggled to find a decisive goal. The atmosphere at Celtic Park was tense, as a single goal would decide whether the trophy stayed in Glasgow or moved to Edinburgh.

The breakthrough came in the 87th minute when Daizen Maeda connected with a cross from Callum Osmand, firing a close‑range shot into the back of the net to send the home fans into raptures.

Although Iheanacho did not score, his impact on the match was undeniable. His introduction injected urgency into Celtic’s play, providing a physical presence in the final third that galvanized the Hoops’ attack.
