ABUJA — Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu has instructed that security resources be bolstered in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State after recent attacks.

The IGP also ordered Assistant Inspector-General Dankombo Morris, who heads Zone 4 Headquarters in Makurdi, to move to Jos for an operational assessment and to coordinate security measures.

This action is part of a wider directive from the police chief that requires all Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs) to relocate to their respective zones to oversee ongoing operations against terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and other criminal groups nationwide.

According to a statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, AIG Morris visited the Akawel community in Mushere District of Bokkos Local Government Area, where he met with community leaders, traditional rulers and other stakeholders to evaluate the security situation and reinforce peace initiatives.

During the visit, Morris expressed the IGP’s and the Force Management Team’s condolences to families affected by the attacks.

He assured residents that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to arresting those responsible for the violence and delivering them to justice.

He added that all lawful measures are being employed to identify, arrest and prosecute the perpetrators while preventing further attacks in the affected communities.

The AIG further revealed that, under the IGP’s directive, additional security personnel and operational assets have been deployed to Plateau State, especially to communities impacted by the Bokkos attacks.

He said the deployment aims to strengthen ongoing operations, increase security presence and restore normalcy in the area.
