IGP Olatunji Disu has confirmed the appointment of Chief Superintendent of Police Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force.
Iniedu succeeds Deputy Commissioner of Police Anthony Okon Placid, who has been reassigned to the Lagos State Police Command.
The change follows only three months after Placid was appointed Force PRO on March 8 2026, succeeding former spokesperson ACP Benjamin Hundeyin.
According to a source, the redeployment is part of the Inspector‑General’s ongoing efforts to reposition the Nigeria Police Force and bolster its communication strategy.
In a statement, outgoing Force PRO DCP Placid confirmed CSP Iniedu’s appointment, highlighting the new spokesperson’s extensive background in public communication, operational policing, intelligence coordination, and administrative leadership.
Prior to his appointment, CSP Iniedu headed the Complaint Response Unit at Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he coordinated public complaint management and led initiatives to enhance transparency, accountability, and public trust.
He also worked as Public Relations Officer at the Police College of Information Technology in Kobape, Ogun State, and held various operational and administrative positions nationwide.
His previous assignments comprise Operations Officer at Maisandari Division, Yobe State; Area Crime Officer at Umuahia Area Command, Abia State; Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat; Second‑in‑Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron in Kubwa; and Officer‑in‑Charge of the Force
